Event Description:
Join us at the Chicopee Boys and Girls Club on Friday, June 25th at 10AM with John Velis. Senator Velis is Chair of the Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs and is the Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Mental Health, Substance Use and Recovery. We will be serving coffee and light refreshments.
He attended Westfield High School, then went on to earn a BS at the University of South Florida, and a JD at Suffolk University Law School. He served as an intern for the Hampden County DA’s office, Hampden County Superior Court, the Mass. State Treasurer’s Office, and the White House before settling down to practice law with his Uncle, Ret. Judge Peter Velis.
Senator Velis is also a Veteran of the United States Military and served two tours in Afghanistan, overseeing all ISAF-NATO rule of law efforts throughout the Zabul province in the war-torn nation. He is currently a Captain in the United States Army Reserve and recently deployed to Afghanistan for a second time in June of 2018.
